Depeche Mode Touring the Universe

Postby schphil » Sat Aug 08, 2009 5:51 pm

Seen Monday August 3rd.
I have been looking forward to this concert for ages. I dont care for Madison square garden The atmosphere is good but the stage sight lines SUCK! we had seats to the side of the stage and due to some Brilliant design work from "Morons Incorporated" there was a giant piece of truss and a speaker right in the sight line of Dave Gahan. He moves around a lot but No Less annoying and when You Pay 100 bucks for a ticket I don't want Partial sight.
Being sold out there was nowhere else to go.
Here is the set List that was played Monday night. There are variations depending on the Venue
# In Chains
# Wrong
# Hole To Feed
# Walking In My Shoes
# It's No Good
# A Question Of Time
# Precious
# Fly On The Windscreen
# Little Soul
# Home
# Come Back
# Policy Of Truth
# In Your Room
# I Feel You
# Enjoy The Silence
# Never Let Me Down Again
# Encore:
# Stripped
# Master And Servant
# Strangelove
# Encore 2:
# Personal Jesus
# Waiting For The Night

Dave Gahan Is one of the most Charismatic performers I have ever seen on stage, He whips the crowd into a frenzy and he moves around the stage with the energy and enthusiasm of someone in his twenties. Martin Gores voice seems to get better the more I hear it! His version Of Shake the disease from touring the Angel was Unbelievable. This song was sadly not on the set list and I missed it' Its one of my faves.
My friend Nicole is a hardcore Dave fanatic and the disappointment of the aforementioned speaker placement did not dampen her enthusiasm for long! She was most upset when Dave put his shirt back on for the encore. When a band has been around as Long as Depeche mode its hard to please everyone. I had a great time and danced and swayed to every number! The crowd were really worked up too. Video and light show accompanied each song to really enhance the mood and was well thought out and put together. I really loved the show and Hope to get to see them again. I took some pics on my phone and If I can work out how to get them off the damn phone I will post them too.

EDIT: You'd think Id Learn how to spell tour by now?

I <3 Depeche Mode. It was REALLY disappointing that I didn't hear a single DM song at the goth prom.

Really?
At a GOTH prom?
Goth was the illegitimate love child of the Cure/Smiths/Depeche Mode.
